Project 2: Abstraction, Exploration and Design: Linear Gallery

In my iterations of a logo for the Linear Gallery, I explored different ways of expressing the concept of "linear."  I started with an abstraction of the concrete columns and beans that are prominent in the gallery.  I also was inspired by Constructivist artist Alexander Rodchenko because of the bold attention grabbing quality of his work.  I also attempted several iterations which were almost entirely formed by the words "Linear Gallery" rather than alternate images representing the space.

Process for Brion Model

To model this peacock, I abstracted it's tail into three layers: the stem of the feathers (in two layers for variation) and the eyes on the feather.  I chose to model the colors of the eyes as layers to add further dimension. 

 

Exercise 8

With this model, I attempted to abstract the elements of a view from the Brion  Cemetary by Carlo Scarpa.

I chose to anchor the spread with a consistent neutral strip at the bottom, which holds the title and explanation for each project.  I then organized the text and images along a grid in order to create balance and allow for an easy reading of the project.
